After four wins across nine rounds of the 2024 British GT Championship, Zac Meakin, Jack Brown and Optimum Motorsport win the season finale and claim this year’s GT4 overall title

As the famous quote states: ‘start as you mean to go on’, and our duo did exactly that with topping the timing sheets in the weekend’s free practice and pre-qualifying session. Both Zac and Jack carried Saturday morning’s momentum into qualifying, converting their pace into pole position for the season finale on Sunday afternoon.

As the lights went out for the series’ Battle of Brands, Zac led the GT4 field, but not until the pack split to avoid a spinning Mercedes-AMG GT3 at Pilgrim’s Rise, where #90 dropped from first to third at the top of Druids to a fellow Artura and championship protagonist Day in the #7 Aston GT4.

Determined to regain lost positions, Zac passed the #95 McLaren with a bold move on the inside with just the Aston left insight ahead. After many attempts at passing, Meakin found space to make the move at Surtees where he regained the top spot at the half-hour stage.

As the pit window began to draw closer, he’d gained a sizeable lead over Forsetti’s Aston before a long Full Course Yellow period neutralised the race. Zac boxed early to hand over to Jack, and upon rejoining the race, Jack found himself ahead of the overall leading RJN McLaren GT3, assuring #90 would gain a lap when the Safety Car was to be called for the restart.

As for the gap that they’d built, a lap to be precise, Brown’s pursuit of victory and the championship title was as steady as it gets.

Shaun Goff, Team Principal: “Zac and Jack have both put in some amazing performances this year. It’s a huge relief for everyone that’s been working behind the scenes at Optimum to ensure we had the championship win under our belt, I’m very proud of them both.”
