George and Hopkinson switch to Optimum's McLaren for 2025 for British GT season
Harry George and Luca Hopkinson make the switch from Mercedes machinery to Optimum’s McLaren Artura GT4 as they head into their second British GT season together.
Having finished seventh in the overall GT4 standings last year in what was Hopkinson’s first season in both British GT and GT racing, the duo are looking to build on 2024’s success. The pairing saved their best result of last season for the finale at Brands Hatch, securing fourth overall in an action-packed title decider.
“I’m super excited to get to work with Optimum this year as I head into my second year in GT racing,” said Hopkinson. “I’m looking forward to carrying the momentum from the end of last year into 2025 with a good team and team-mate around me. We’ll give it our best shot.”
After two seasons racing in the Mercedes-AMG GT4, Harry George embarks on his third GT4 campaign in the series, but a first with the a championship-winning McLaren Artura.
“This is my third year in British GT now, the first year we had some difficulties and last year was much improved with more regular podiums,” said George. “With Luca now in his second year, and in a car I know well and a front running team, I’m Optimistic we can run at the front of the grid this year. Can’t wait to get going!
Cars hit the track for British GT’s media day at Silverstone on March 21, with the season-opener at Donington Park three weeks later on April 5/6.
