Tillbrook and Kirchhöfer join forces for British GT campaign with Optimum Motorsport
Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhöfer complete the fourth of Optimum’s quartet of McLarens entered into this season’s British GT. The duo enter into the championship with the #77 GT3 EVO, vying for overall honours across the seven-round, nine-race series.
Both Tillbrook and co-driver Kirchhöfer are no strangers to British GT, with Morgan debuting on home soil in GT3 machinery back in 2021. He and former teammate Clutton claimed three wins together, most notably at Donington Park in May 2022 by over a minute ahead of the rest of the field after starting the race from pole.
Tillbrook saved his best result of the 2024 season for the finale at Brands Hatch, securing third place ahead of his winter campaign with Optimum in Asia and the Middle East.
Kirchhöfer joined Tillbrook and teammate Ikin in the #77 McLaren GT3 across the final four races of the 2024/25 Asian Le Mans Series, with their partnership now extending into a full-season British GT programme. “Morgan has shown great pace in qualifying at the Asian Le Mans Series which will be one of the key points for British GT, especially with the shorter races where starting position is very important,” said teammate and McLaren factory ace, Marvin Kirchhöfer.
“The combination of his qualifying for one race and me for another at events such as Snetterton and Oulton Park will get us in a decent spot. If we can keep it clean, we can get some really good race results. There’s only one goal this year, and that’s going for the overall championship win and I’m very optimistic that we can do this and I’m excited for that challenge!”
Kirchhöfer - a recent Rolex 24 at Daytona class winner, embarks on his first full-season British GT entry since 2023 having spent the previous year racing across the pond in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
All four of Optimum’s McLarens alongside the rest of the British GT grid will be on track at the series’ Media Day on March 21st before the opening round at Donington Park two weeks later on April 5-6.
