With the team having previously announced their plans to return to the series, Zac Meakin was the first of two drivers to be confirmed during the latter stages of last year. Fellow Brit and former British GT title rival, Mikey Porter completes the lineup as the duo set out to compete for overall honours in the PRO class in the 2025 International GT Open season.

The pair made their GT3 race debut together at the series’ finale last October at the Temple of Speed. A strong showing battling the full season pro cars saw the McLaren GT3 EVO climb all the way to the sharp end, running as high as fourth overall before contact denied the team any chance of a podium finish in Monza, Italy.

Since then, the work has continued for both drivers as they gear up for a busy 2025 season and a first full campaign in GT3 machinery. From testing to racing, both Meakin and Porter have had a busy winter, with the latter also competing in his first twenty-four-hour race in the GT3 EVO, the Michelin 24H Dubai back in early January.

He also claimed his first silverware of the year just a week later, finishing third overall with his teammates in Optimum’s McLaren at the Abu Dhabi 6H.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to start my first GT3 season with McLaren and Optimum Motorsport in GT Open. Zac and I showed strong pace in the final GT Open race of 2024, so we hope to carry that momentum forward throughout the whole of 2025. Can’t wait to get the season underway,” said Porter.

The GT Open action kickstarts with the series’ official Winter Test on March 25 - 26, with the opening round weeks later in the Algarve, Portugal on April 26-27.
