Optimum Motorsport head to Portugal for opening round of GT Open
The Optimum Motorsport team return to International GT Open in 2022, featuring the duo of Nick Moss and Joe Osborne where Estoril, Portugal will play host to the first round.
In addition to continuing to field the McLaren 720S GT3, this year, the team will also compete in Pro class after an impressive 2021 Pro-Am campaign which yielded six podiums, three class wins, an overall win and the most pole positions.
It was announced by GT Sport late last year that the championship will return to Estoril for the first time since 2018 in place of Portimão for this weekend’s (29 April - 1 May) first round.
Though it no longer hosts Formula One and MotoGP events, the 2.59-mile circuit has continued to host major series in recent years, including the European Le Mans series, FIA World Touring Car Cup, and now, the International GT Open.
Shaun Goff, Team Principal
“It’s great to have Nick and Joe back into GT Open this year, and now they take on the new challenge of battling within the Pro category.
“They showed their great pace back in Asian Le Mans at the start of this year, building on the success that they had in this championship last year. With some successful testing in Estoril last week, the team are ready to kick-start another season’s campaign.”
